Artsy Classes have been a long time in the making and developed because of AnnMarie’s desire to provide creative young people with a place to learn and flourish beyond the school environment.
Meet the Teacher!
AnnMarie studied Textile Design at Heriot Watt University and graduated in 2005 with a first class BA HONS degree in Textile Design. She was also awarded the Dr Oliver medal for the best overall design student. Her own work has sold privately and to companies such as Donna Karen New York. After graduating AnnMarie worked as an Art Therapist in various residential homes and care homes throughout the Central Belt. In 2007 she studied at Glasgow University to complete her Post Graduate Diploma in Education and became an art & design teacher.
Since then she has worked in schools in North Lanarkshire, West Lothian and she spent a year travelling and teaching art & design in Sydney Australia. For the past 10 years she has been based at a large secondary school in North Lanarkshire where she teaches S1-S6.
AnnMarie is also a busy mum of two small girls. She is passionate about the benefits of creativity in education and her aim is to help all of her young artistic students reach their full potential.
